day 43: week 6 check-in

Damn It! I gained a pound of fat this week. Up to 149lb and 31.2% body fat from last week’s 148lb and 30.7% body fat. I can’t say I’m surprised though. Last week I felt really light on Wednesday morning (do you ever have those days?) but today I felt normal. So 149lb makes sense.

Evidently I just keep taking two steps forward and one step back. I have to stay positive though. At least the general trend is in the right direction, right?
I was REALLY hoping to bring my body fat % closer to 30% this week, though.

Maybe this is punishment for being a big cheater on my naturopathic cleansing diet. Okay, “big cheater” is to strong a term, but needless to say I did eat a couple of things I shouldn’t have.
First off, yesterday’s delicious jambalaya is apparently a no-no. I’m able to eat fish but I didn’t read my eating chart thoroughly and missed the “no shellfish” bit. Whoopsies.
My other cheat was blatant. I ate 2 butterscotch hard candies on Monday *hangs head in shame*. Coincidentally, I got a shiny new pimple on my face for each candy. So there’s a pretty good chance that my acne is affected by sugar intake but I’ll have to wait and see if I get my period (because it could be that too).

I didn’t feel like cooking tonight so I made a BIG bean salad. In the mix were garbanzo and romano beans, a tomato, 3 celery stalks with the leaves, salt, pepper, and thyme. I dressed the salad with a mix of 2 tbsp tahini, 4 tbsp lemon juice, 1 tsp dijon mustard, 1 tbsp honey, and a bit of water.
I decided to pile (and I mean REALLY pile) the beans onto a bed of arugula and top it all off with some fresh dill. Mmmmmmm….

AND for all of you wondering, my one truth is…

1. I have changed at least three flat tires. True (I know a lot about tires from working in automotive service at Canadian Tire. Some tires I can name just by looking at their tread pattern.)

I wish I had a signed copy of Abbey Road though. That would’ve been nice.

  • This week may not have been the best week you were hoping for, but just keep a positive attitude and I’m sure the numbers will reflect that on your next check in!

  • I love bean salads, that looks great! Don’t be hard on yourself, slow progress just means the pounds will stay off, instead of losing quickly and gaining it back after you diet changes a little =)

  • Please don’t beat yourself up over a couple candies! Seriously, that’s nothing. Just keep moving forward :)
