About Me

Name: Samantha Angela Menzies (nee Campagna)

Birthday: July 27th, 1985 (that makes me a Leo and I am such a Leo)

Hometown: Windsor, Ontario, Canada (I lived in Toronto for a brief stint from 2007-2009 but Windsor is home)

How long have you been married?

My husband Matt and I got married in the summer of 2008 in my mother-in-law’s home village of Domegge di Cadore in Italy. Matt is a really bright high school teacher and my favourite person in the world.

What kind of dog do you have?

My dog is a female cocker spaniel named Bagigis (that buh-GEE-geeze). Bagigi means peanut in Italian (don’t ask me why I decided it would be better with an ‘s’ at the end). I got Bagigis from an awesome breeder near Woodstock Ontario and she is the most loveable and people-friendly dog ever.

What do you do for fun?

I like doing yoga, reading, baking bread, travelling (if my budget allows), and eating.

What do you do for a living?

I’m studying to become an actuary (google it) but it’s a slow-going as the required exams are difficult to pass unless you’re a genius or an over-achiever. Officially, I’m working as an analyst. I actually wiki’d “Analytics” to help me describe my job function:

“The simplest definition of Analytics is “the science of analysis”. A simple and practical definition, however, would be how an entity (i.e., business) arrives at an optimal or realistic decision based on existing data. Business managers may choose to make decisions based on past experiences or rules of thumb, or there might be other qualitative aspects to decision making; but unless there are data involved in the process, it would not be considered analytics.”
