day 38: 2 walks
Today was Lower Body day at the gym. Last Friday I bought new gloves because my hands were so sore after this workout, but this week I didn’t feel a thing! Awesome. The new gloves are especially helpful for holding the barbell for deadlifts and the dumbbells for shrugs.
Straight-legged deadlifts: 135lb for 3 sets of 6
Leg Press: 320lb for 3 sets of 8
Dumbbell Lunges: 40lb for 3 sets of 6
Dumbbell Shrugs: 70lb for 3 sets of 6
Seated Calf Raises: 150lb for 3 sets of 8
Decline Oblique Twists: 25lb for 3 sets of 12
Back Extensions: 3 sets of 12
Since it was such a beautiful, sunny evening and a balmy 39 degrees I decided to go home and take Bagigis for a walk. When I let her out of her crate she ran around the kitchen with her paws were covered in mud! …well that explained the dead tree’s worth of dirty paper towels that I saw in the garbage earlier. (I get a little passionate about overuse of paper towels, but that’s another story).
Evidently Matt had already taken the dog for a walk. Through the mud, no less. Well, I had intended to walk her and walk her I did! The lucky girl got two long walks today.
So tired…She’s been sleeping for the last 2 hours.
Although, we have been watching Planet Earth. I love that series, but man, it ALWAYS puts me to sleep! Well… off to bed.
day 34: new gloves
This morning I made my prescribed smoothie based on the exact recipe provided to me by my naturopath: 1 c. fruit, 1 tbsp flax, 1 tsp Nutrasea, 4 tbsp hemp, and some almond milk. It was disgusting. Blech! I managed to chug it down, but I chased it with a fresh banana to end my brekkie on a high note. I guess I’ll have to keep tweaking it with greens, herbs, and spices like I did on the weekend.
At work today (and this was the highlight of my day, mind you) I discovered a brand new food and beverage pairing! For a snack I brought a mix of some walnuts, raisins, and cranberries leftover from yesterday’s bread and I just happened to be drinking Green Gingko Pear Tea from Teaopia. The tea and trail mix combination was so phenomenal. Something about the dried fruit brought out the sweetness of the tea. Oh man, you should try it. Party in your mouth. Enough said.
Today happened to be the most gorgeous, sunshiny day. So I was really happy to duck out of work for half an hour at lunch to take ‘Gigers for a walk (when it’s wet and snowy, I’m not so happy about it). I was feeling a bit camera happy today so I took some pics:
She doesn’t look too happy here. Probably because I stopped her to take a picture.
She was really into the latest literature on arthritis prevention.
After work today I headed to the gym, as usual. With one thing different. New Gloves! Last week my hands were killing me after weightlifting and I was starting to develop caluses so I decided to man up (or maybe wuss out?) and buy my first pair of workout gloves. Tonight, my hands don’t hurt at all. But tomorrow is leg day and I use heavier weights so I’ll see how they workout for me tomorrow. I’m not going to lie, I felt a bit like a thug wearing them.
Tough girl face:
I just finished cooking dinner now I’m waiting around for Matt to come home from tutoring. Chicken Pad Thai. I got the recipe from my naturopath. I’ve already dipped into it and it’s gooood!
